Make no mistake, many people find quitting smoking challenging. The Smoking Cessation Clinic at the MUHC is a unique program that helps patients kick the habit. Under the Directorship of Dr. Gaston Ostiguy, the clinic develops programs of individualized care for each patient consisting of medical tests, group sessions, and medication to reduce their addiction.
- Smokers represent 90% of lung cancer deaths
- People who smoke a pack a day increase their risk of developing lung cancer to 10 times that of non-smokers
- Incidence of lung cancer is on the rise
 |
- By the time an individual develops lung cancer symptoms, the disease has often already spread, resulting in one of the worst prognoses of any cancer
- Quitting smoking is the best way to reduce the risks of developing smoking-related diseases, such as heart disease, stroke, emphysema, chronic bronchitis and lung cancer.
